"Always have a goal, and as long as I get an award, there will be pride and satisfaction — not just for myself, but for the people who believe in me."
Avila Bahar is the third generation of Indonesia's most iconic racing family. Born on 12 April 2002 in Jakarta, he is the son of 14-time national champion Alvin Bahar and grandson of the late Aswin Bahar — one of Indonesia's original motorsport pioneers. Where legacy could be a burden, Avila wears it as fuel: his 5 national championship titles are entirely his own — earned lap by lap, title by title.
His passion ignited at age 14 watching his father race at Sirkuit Sentul. Without being pushed, he entered the Honda Brio Speed Challenge (2016) as runner-up, claimed the Honda Jazz Speed Challenge Promotion Class (2018), and earned the ITCR 1600 Rising Star title (2019) at just 17 — all before joining the factory Honda Racing Indonesia squad. He also pursued his academic journey at Universitas Indonesia (Public Relations, Vocational Program), managing championship campaigns and university simultaneously.
Contracted by HRI in 2021, Avila delivered immediate results: three back-to-back ITCR 1500 national titles — Rising Star (2021), Master (2022), Master (2023) — the latter forming part of HRI's clean sweep treble season. Moving to the ITCR 1200 Master class in 2024, he again claimed the title immediately, alongside his first international win at the Malaysian Championship Series (MTC Class). His role expanded to Manager of Honda Racing Indonesia, shaping the programme he grew up in.
In 2025, Avila delivered his most refined season — winning rounds at Mandalika across the Kejurnas ITCR calendar. His measured race intelligence, consistent pace, and technical synergy with the HRI engineering squad produced his fifth national championship title, confirming him as the most successful young touring car racer in Indonesia's history.
Always have a goal.
Because ambition is
what drives every lap.
